Are there time limits to file for my injuries if I was injured at a hotel in a foreign country?

The short answer is yes. If you’re injured in a foreign country and you are a resident of the United States, generally speaking, you’d like to be able to file your lawsuit in the United States. With respect to Florida, if you’re injured, we have a four year statute of limitations. However, if the foreign country in which you’re injured has a shorter statute of limitations for injury claims, Florida will apply that shorter statute. If you’re injured at an hotel in a foreign country, what you need to do is consult with counsel and learn what is the statute of limitation for an injury claim in the foreign country. Then with regard to where you are going to file the lawsuit, will that venue apply the shorter statute? Florida will!
