Can I sue someone for damages if they were already found guilty in criminal court?
If someone’s already been found guilty in criminal court and that person was the cause of injury to you or to a loved one, you absolutely can pursue civil remedies against that person. The fact that they were found guilty in the criminal proceedings or pled guilty in the criminal proceedings is actually a good fact in the civil side because you can use the fact of their guilty plea or judications of guilt to your benefit in your civil claim.
